Molly Moore
Molly Moore is a singer/songwriter/actress/rockstar/awesome client. She was recently featured in Substream Magazine, along with my photo from this shoot (not trying to steal the lime light here but its always a great feeling for a photographer to have his work published). We concentrated the whole concept of this shoot around her New single “August Forever” one line in particular “New York winter melting into summer” really stuck out visually for me. That is why I love working with musicians, they give you the words that help you visualize the scene its like PB&J. I conveniently placed a music player with her single below so you can listen while seeing.

Taylor Gildersleeve
Taylor and I have a small town connection, both raised in Mattituck New York. She is an amazing actress now living in Manhattan and has been featured in various different sitcoms and commercials (gossip girl, Law & order, Subway, etc), you can check out her imdb here. Taylor wanted to do something a little different then the normal headshot routine, incorporating a bit more of an editorial appeal…So we met up at beach about 15 minutes away from the high school we attended and had a very relaxing and collaborative shoot. One of the things that really impressed me about Taylor was her ability to create her own natural poses on rather unforgiving elements.

Bobbie Soleil
In the beginning of summer 2011 I photographed a Singer/Songwriter by the name of Bobbie Soleil, based out of Hamptons NY. Her sound is extremely eclectic, infusing calypso, soul, pop, african drums, and french vocals all with the undertone of classical orchestration. Being from the South Fork of Long Island, Bobbie was offered a variety of beautiful settings for the shoot. We decided on this lovely estate with a very classical appeal. Below are some of the images captured that day. Styling by Kara Hoblin

karas leaving
I have spent the past two months with kara and we had a great time, hung out with friends that we havent seen in years, went to passion pit, took photographs, and most importantly took advantage of the serenity we had with eachother amist the whirlwind of our lives. shes packing up for her semester in Italy and I am thinking about whats in store for my life for the next couple of months. I have found that it is no small task establishing a business for myself, but I want it no other way, I have seen too many people give up on their dreams and I am not ready to voyage down that dark path. I want a career that is in sync with my passion and I feel as if I am finally able to attain this dream. The important thing is to concentrate on my art, I spoke with someone at an art exhibit and he told me exactly what I wanted to hear and to be honest already knew but need that reaffirmation “Create exactly whats on your mind and in your visions, others will appreciate it and gravitate towards your work simply due to its genuine and pure qualities.” I was asked to showcase my work. I will be creating a new series of work that will have to do with the anxieties and entrapment that I feel within myself at the same time dealing with my yearning to explore the outside world.

CMJ
Wow it has been a while since I touched tumblr but one of my new years resolutions is to be more on top of my “blogging” as cheesy as it sounds, I really think its important asset to continue improving and progressing my work. SO without further adieu lets first begin with the CMJ Festival. For those of you who do not know what this is, picture hundreds upon hundreds of upcoming indie bands playing throughout the lower eastside at basically every venue imaginable, now add to the equation thousands of people from various different countries swarming the streets to see them play. I was assigned as one of the photographers for this event. I was E-mailed my itinerary and off I went, photographing 5 days straight with a very unorthodox schedule. For example begin shooting 9:00 am panels in nyu wait three hours, then shoot a film festival in chelsea after that finally arrive in lower east side and shoot your ass off until 3 in the morning. To say the least I didnt see a shower head for a few days. But I cant complain this is what I live for…aside from being told by a bouncer that he was going to “kick my ass onto the pavement” because he didnt believe I worked for CMJ, could have done without that one.

Sweet 16
Yes I was hired to do promotional photographs for a sweet 16…I know what a lot of you may be thinking, but in actuality it was a very fun and creative shoot. My clients found an awesome location in Huntington, NY and supplied a large variety of off beat wardrobe. The goal for the shoot was to give a rebellious editorial appearance with dark tones and dramatic light. Respect to the parents for thinking outside the box.

Steve Ronsen Promos
Steve Ronsen is a talented musician and owner of The A-Room, a busy recording studio in Hicksville NY. He wanted to do photos involving both urban and nature landscapes. I brought my good friend Brian to assist me and Steve brought an artillery of wardrobes along with his dog, which wouldnt leave his side for the majority of the shoot. The hours flew by as we worked on getting the perfect shots that properly depicted Steve’s style. I experimented with color filters and using the sun as a secondary light source. It was pretty frighting setting up my light stands near rising tides and shooting down sketchy desolate alley ways at night but when it was all said and done I was very happy with the results. Its usually those risky shots that I find most successful.

Finally Catching up.
I havent posted anything in a real long while. Thankfully its because I have been super busy with tons of photo work. I guess I will start off with Anthony Defranco photo shoot round two. Anthony Defranco, owner of the “Dirty” hair products along with one of the most prestigious hair salon and spa on long island asked me to do a photo shoot to update his portfolio, I was pretty psyched. It took place out on the east end of Long Island(my stomping grounds)… I wanted to catch one of the last warm days on the shoreline. Priscilla Distastio modeled for us and Anthony himself was the stylist. Overall we had a great time, couldnt have asked for a more beautiful day, a wonderful ender of Summer 2009.

apparently I’m not very good at keeping up with my tumblr, oh well, but I will try. The leaves are changing, fall is in full force and I really miss the warm weather. I’ve been doing some personal work, keep the fine artist alive inside of me, which can get hard. I’ve realized that on any commercial shoot i do, I just have to stay true to conceptual thinking and keep my own style in the photographs, that is the only way I can stay sane and I’m sure that goes for any other photographers.
